Welcome in!

Hello there!

My name is Ava & I am a recent graduate with my BSc in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University.

My interests following my academic life are human-wildlife conflict, food web interactions, and science communication. This site serves as an outlet to write about issues within wildlife biology, as well as connect friends, family, and wildlife enthusiasts to my work.

I’ve lived in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Maryland, and most recently Colorado. As a typical Coloradan, I love spending time outdoors—hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. All of which has ultimately led me to a career in wildlife biology. I’ve also always had a special place in my heart for writing, hence this website. I’m excited to share stories of my adventures taking on technician positions and (hopefully) sharing advice with the next generation.

Who are you?

From academic peer advising to fisheries technician roles, I like to consider myself a bit of a generalist when it comes to this field. The interconnecting of fields/disciplines is something I consider to be one of the most important building blocks for effective wildlife management and betters our scientific communication with a plethora of stakeholders and communities. Curious about the previous work I’ve been involved in? Click the link below.

Whatcha been up to?

“The most important thing each of us can know is our unique gift and how to use it in the world. Individuality is cherished and nurtured, because, in order for the whole to flourish, each of us has to be strong in who we are and carry our gifts with conviction, so they can be shared with others.”

— Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass

Let’s get together! I’m always happy to chat over a cup of coffee.
